Inhabited since ancient times, first from the Etruscans and then from the Romans, San Vincenzo is today an important seaside resort of the Tyrrhenian coasts, considered one of the most equipped centre of the Etruscan Coast, an ideal place for people who want to relax. The village completely develops on the sea and offers long sandy beaches, in part surrounded by a thick pinewood, ideal for trekking and riding. Provided with modern sport facilities and with a particular mild climate, in San Vincenzo is possible to practice many water sports and not only. Here we find also a tourist port, starting point for boat excursions in the islands and in the neighbour villages.
The beaches develop for some KMs southwards until the beautiful Park of Rimigliano, between the Gulf of Baratti and San Vincenzo; there is a luxuriant Mediterranean bush that extends until the sea and is possible to travel completely on foot or by bicycle, it is also a refuge for many species of animals.
At few KMs from the sea, in the green hills is located the hamlet of San Carlo, seat of mineral deposit and here is possible to admire the “Buche Carsiche”, natural caves that in the past were used for the mineral quarrying. Moreover it is located near the most interesting medieval villages and near the archaeological area of Populonia, important Etruscan village, the one and only built direct on the sea.
