Castiglioncello represents one of the most renowned destination of the
Etruscan Coast, characterized by beautiful sheer cliffs above the sea with suggestive bays and creeks, such as the wonderful “Quercetano’s Bay”.
Wet by a crystal sea, it results a very interesting place for diving. Back to the splendid beaches extends a long pinewood, ideal for relaxing walks, also in the moonlight, and a characteristic seaside promenade, dedicated to the great
Alberto Sordi, who was guest of this place, like many other celebrities. Moreover,
Castiglioncello is linked to the artistic movement of the painters “Macchiaioli”, who were inspired by those enchanting places for their beautiful paintings, having as reference point the “school” of the writer and art critic Diego Martelli, born here in the second half of the nineteenth century.
But Castiglioncello is famous also for the numerous and prestigious cultural events such as the renowned literary award “Premio Letterario Castiglioncello” and important art exhibitions that take place inside the wonderful Castello Pasquini, built at the end of the nineteenth century on the old villa of
Diego Martelli, afterwards become a cultural centre and surrounded by a marvellous park of about 8 hectares, covered by a thick vegetation.
